Otology and Neurotology Program

The mission of Otology/Neurotology program is as follows:

"The Otology/Neurotology program of the QEII Health Sciences Centre is a local, national, and international leader in providing a higher quality of life for patients. We are regarded as a world-class centre that provides excellence in clinical care and research. We are committed to providing a first-rate teaching program in otology. Our strength in quality and innovation makes the program a place where people are valued and want to work and learn."

The Otology/Neurotology program is lead by a team of highly experienced and skilled individuals. This team includes: Dr. Manohar Bance, Dr. Kevin Clarke, Dr. Charles Cron, Dr. David Kirkpatrick, Dr. Emad Massoud, and Dr. Nural Wali. Currently, Dr. Bance is the only full-time otologist/neurotologist on the team.These members perform various middle ear surgeries, including:

 

  • tympanomastoid surgery,
  • stapes surgery, and
  • ossiculoplasties.

These hearing reconstruction surgeries dovetail the research interests of Dr. Bance, who runs the Ear and Auditory Research Laboratory at Dalhousie University.

In addition, the Otology/Neurotology program runs specialized clinics including:

Furthermore, the Otology/Neurotology program has close links with the Ear and Auditory Research Laboratory, Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech, and the School of Communication Disorders at Dalhousie University.
